No Margarita, No Boots, No Vagina on Display. Hey, Is This Britney?

Why did I feel the need to write yet another post on Britney and her ad for her new BELIEVE fragrance? Well, if you really must know, I realized I might have a thing or two to add concerning the pop princess everyone knows to be an alcoholic and an overall braniac (in her own words) and everyone's desire to exploit and make the most of her image - however controversial it may be. Plus, there's a very funny part to it as well, as it looks like the Elizabeth Arden gang is in damage control mode.

Remember that moment in the latest James Bond movie in which one of the characters goes "it's amazing what you can do with Photoshop these days"? That was actually my favorite line in the movie, seeing how it's very much in fashion among the good and the bad of our celebrity world. And now remember that song that went "and isn't it ironic"? Well, most of the time it is, whatever the "it" may be, and all the more so if it's the latest ad for Britney Spears' perfume, called (and now we get to the ironic part) "Believe"? Yes, we believe Brit to be a mess, but that's about it.

Personally, after mature consideration, I reached the definitive conclusion that they left out the question mark after the name of the perfume. Now, if it had all been an interrogation, it would suddenly had become much more relevant for the way things are at the moment.

Let's take a closer look at the ad first of all. We see an angelic, silvery blonde creature that looks more like the Britney from 10 years ago, radiating sensuality and freshness - but the funny part is that they seem to have cut off the shots of Brit's body that sparked a similar controversy some weeks ago. The slim, toned, fit figure gazing at us hypnotically from among caged and free green birds is gone. Thank goodness. But some questions still remain - do we Believe (question mark optional) there is any body part featured in the aid that actually belongs to Britney?

About two months ago, rumors started swirling that the people at Elizabeth Arden had got so tired of Britney repeatedly walking out from the shoots for the add that they had decided to superimpose shots of her face on someone else's body, someone who, as a source reported at the time, "had the body Britney once had". After initially refusing to comment, the perfume house however did a double take and denied using a body double.

Now, this gets us back to the lines with the Photoshop and the irony. Do we believe this to be the pop tart's true face? Hair? Nose? Mouth? I know, I'm exaggerating but really - there's a point to it. If you do look like this, Brit, then by all means, please walk around the shops and bars, we'd all love to take a closer look. But if it's not the case, then I must say it's a pretty thin - no pun intended - plot, since as another saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words and Britney's more recent photos do indeed speak volumes. But not about the birds and the bees, as you very well know.
