No LTE for GALAXY Nexus at Optus in Australia

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus, the latest Google phone out there and the first device in the world to run under Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, won’t offer LTE connectivity to Optus users in Australia, at least not initially.

The wireless carrier already confirmed plans to have the mobile phone available on its network, and now it also provided specific info on the connectivity capabilities it will sport.

Unfortunately, there will be no LTE available at launch, though that does not exclude the future availability of handset with the said capability enabled. Here’s what Optus reportedly told Ausdroid on the matter:

We just wanted to confirm the GALAXY Nexus is HSPA+ compatible on our Optus Open Network. Samsung has yet to make any announcements regarding the availability in Australia of an LTE-compatible version of the GALAXY Nexus.
