Microsoft is expected to launch the new Surface tablet sometime next week, so it's no surprise that more details about the second-generation are now reaching the web.

According to Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet, the new devices won't feature LTE support, which is quite a major drawback for those who wish to use the Surface on the go. Instead, Microsoft will stick to Wi-Fi, so it turns out that the company keeps making the same mistakes as for the first generation.

The Surface 2, which is supposed to be Surface RT successor, will be powered by a Tegra 4 processor optimized to offer a maximum of eight hours of battery life. It will also come with a ClearType full HD display, which is the same configuration offered on the existing Surface Pro.

The top-of-the-range Pro will be called Surface Pro 2 and will be equipped with an i5 chip and a larger battery for an autonomy of around 7 hours (up from 5 on the current model).

Of course, Microsoft won't comment on this, but the company is expected to release full details on its tablets next week in New York.
