Sony has confirmed it has no intentions of upgrading these devices anymore

Bad news for Sony fans who own the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V, as the Japanese company recently confirmed these smartphones will not be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

Sony Mobile stated a few months ago that it will consider offering Android 4.4 KitKat update to Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V owners, but did not promise anything.

Well, it looks like Sony's engineers decided that these three devices are not worthy enough to be upgraded to the latest version of Google's mobile platform.

Even though the handset maker has yet to issue an official statement on the reasons behind its decision, the support webpages for these particular smartphones have been recently updated with the latest version of Android they will support.

According to Sony, the latest and final version of Android officially supported by Xperia T would be Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The same goes for the other two Xperia smartphones, which will not be upgraded beyond Jelly Bean.

In all fairness, this isn't too surprising considering that all three handsets have almost two years since they've been released on the market, so Sony had better be focusing on newer devices.

Those who still own one of these three Xperia smartphones may want to consider upgrading to slightly newer devices if they want to take advantage of the latest version of Android operating system.

Obviously, there are other ways that you can update your Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V to Android 4.4 KitKat, but they're not official so Sony will not be responsible in any way if you brick your phone.

We don't recommend non-tech savvy to flash unofficial versions of Android on any of these three smartphones, but the option is there and no one can stop you from doing that if you really don't want to upgrade to a newer phone or simply can't afford it.

With that being said, it looks like Sony has just finished upgrading most of its mid-range Xperia phones to Android 4.4 KitKat. The rest that haven't got it yet will probably never will, as they are likely too old to be supported by the handset manufacturer.

Unlike other companies that launch many Android smartphones, Sony Mobile has been pretty quick and fair with their software updates. So they can't really be blamed for the fact that they will not upgrade three smartphones that are almost 2 years old.
