Microsoft is expected to introduce the second-generation Surface tablet on September 23 during an event scheduled to take place in NYC, but the company has promised to keep improving the existing models too.

This month, on the other hand, Microsoft hasn’t released any firmware updates for the Surface RT and the Pro, which means that we’ll have to wait until the next Patch Tuesday cycle for new improvements and fixes.

The Surface update history page briefly states that “no product updates were released for Surface in September,” without any other specifics revealed.

As for the second-generation, it’s expected to bring updates for the both the RT and the Pro, with the latter said to feature an Intel i5 processor and 8 GB of RAM. The RT, on the other hand, will be simply called Surface 2 and will come with a Tegra 4 chip under the hood and 4 GB of RAM.
