Michael Kalms, one of the developers working on Battlefield 3 at DICE, says that his team no longer has any plans to introduce an option to the game that would have allowed the player base to change the color setting for the title.

Speaking to MordorHQ, he says, “As a studio, it is extremely important for us at DICE to have a unique identity in our games, not only from a gameplay perspective, but visually as well.”

“While we appreciate that some players might want a slightly different look to the game, we are proud of the visual identity of Battlefield 3 and do not wish to change it,” the developer adds.

Speculation that official support for color tweaking was coming to Battlefield 3 was created during last week when DICE was set to introduce a new console command dealing with the issue via a new patch.

Now DICE says that gamers should stay clear of a mod that the community created in order to disable color grading, which might earn users a ban.

Presumably, DICE will soon patch the game to disable the option altogether in order to make the matter clear.

A number of long-term fans of the franchise have criticized the look of Battlefield 3 ever since the game was announced, but most players appreciate the way the team uses color and movement in order to create emotion in the single-player and tension in the multiplayer.

At the moment, DICE is aiming to introduce another content pack, called Aftermath, which will expand multiplayer options for long-term fans.

The team at the studio has admitted that, while it is delivering more options for its current title, it is also doing the pre-production work on Battlefield 4.

The studio has not offered any details on the game, which will probably be brought on next-gen consoles.
