Developer Rockstar and publisher Take Two have announced that they are not planning on creating a Collector's Edition for their upcoming title L.A. Noire, with the only content available at launch for those who pick it up being pre-order bonuses that are linked to certain retail chains.
The previous game that was launched by Rockstar, the Western themed Red Dead Redemption, has also not received a Collector's Edition package, which might suggest that the developers are not interested in creating special packages and are choosing to focus on delivering as much content as possible for the game on launch day.
Players will be able to get a set of suits that boot various characters' abilities and change the way a player approaches the game and there are also cases that are included with pre-order deals, allowing the detectives to deal with a missing person’s case and a robbery.
The developers at Rockstar wrote an official blog post, which says, “There won’t be any special edition release of
L.A. Noire, just the preorder bonus content with certain retailers.”
They added, “Also as mentioned, all that content will be made available as DLC after the game comes out.”
L.A. Noire has been in development for quite some time with Team Bondi and the companies have stepped up the promotional efforts ahead of the launch date.
L.A. Noire is set to arrive on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on May 17 in the United States and three days later in Europe.
The game is set in Los Angeles after the Second World War and will allow the player to explore the seedy underside of the city, deal with different human types and solve a variety of cases doing close to real life detective work.
L.A. Noire includes a very conversation system and cutting edge motion-capture technology.
