We can't really say what became of the by now traditional press release but, according to the listings on some of NVIDIA's channel partners? web pages, the GeForce 55nm graphics card is finally out. So, if you happen to be interested in acquiring the new card, you only need to turn to EVGA's site, where it is listed as available for preorder. Even more, you will also be pleasantly surprised once you do so, since the new GeForce product comes with a price tag that should ultimately make it a suitable competitor for AMD's latest Radeons.

The card is in fact listed on the websites of several of NVIDIA's channel partners, but EVGA is the only one that has also assigned a price tag to it. Thus, all those interested will be able to purchase the GeForce 9800 GTX+ for $199, which situates it roughly in the same price area as AMD's HD 4850.

BFG, Point of View, Palit Microsystems, and Inno3D, are the other manufactures that have put the new card up on their websites. As previously noted, for the time being, their offer for NVIDIA?s new card comes unpriced. Given all this, the conclusion that the GeForce 9800GTX+ has been unleashed with close to no bang can only come naturally.

As expected, the card has been built with a 55 nm GPU, which was clocked at 738MHz. The Shaders are clocked at 1.83GHz, while the 512MB, 256-bit GDDR3 memory works at 2.2GHz. As with the GT200-series cards, this one too supports NVIDIA's latest technologies, namely CUDA and PhysX, and should do very well with the latest DirectX 10 graphics cards.

All of the above-mentioned manufactures have made available the card based on the reference design, with a dual-slot cooler, but EVGA and BFG will most likely also put out custom designed versions of it. As a matter of fact, the latter has already released an OC version of the 9800GTX+ GPU, which puts the GPU clock at 760MHz, Shaders at 1890MHz and Memory at 2250MHz.
