A quick trip to Apple’s Supplier Responsibility page may suggest to the untrained eye that the company has leaked a colored iPhone 5S enclosure in the photos used to illustrate working conditions at Foxconn.

Some blogs have quickly jumped to the conclusion that Apple may have leaked its own hardware in these photos, but that’s hardly the case here.

Apple offers the following description for said photo: “A worker prepares an iPhone for final assembly. Suppliers are required to provide workers with protective gear and ensure that they are properly trained on safety standards.”

As others have pointed out, the yellow coating seen on that iPhone enclosure is actually a protective layer used during assembly. That, and of course Apple isn’t so sloppy as to accidentally photograph a device that it hasn’t even fully tested for production.

Plus, even if the company has already started mass production of the rumored colored iPhone 5S, these images were taken long before Apple published its revised Supplier Responsibility report. So, no, that’s not the iPhone 5S.
