The company has no plans to launch the smartphone in the UK

Motorola already introduced the sequel of the popular ATRIX in the United States and it seemed that the rest of the world will get it as well.

Unfortunately, there's at least one country where the smartphone will not be released through the usual channels.

It appears that Motorola officials told the folks over at KnowYourMobile that “the company has no plans in place for a UK launch of the ATRIX 2.”

Although it's unclear if the company's statement concerns the near future or it's a more permanent decision based on its marketing policy.

Currently, Android enthusiasts living in the UK can purchase the high-end Motorola RAZR smartphone, which is probably one of the reasons that the company decided against a release of another top-tier Android smartphone in the country.

Motorola ATRIX 2 was officially launched in the market last month and is aimed at customers who have some experience with Google's Android platform.

The smartphone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, and has yet to be confirmed for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

Motorola announced last month it will upgrade the RAZR, XOOM and BIONIC smartphones to the latest Android 4.0 operating system in early 2012.

The (in)famous MOTOBLUR user interface with Live Widgets is also included, but there are ways to remove it for those who really hate it.

Unlike the RAZR that is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core TI OMAP 4430 processor, the ATRIX 2 is equipped with a slightly less powerful 1 GHz dual core CPU, which is complemented by the same PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit.

In addition, the phone packs only 8GB storage, whereas the RAZR comes with 16GB of internal memory. However, both devices include microSD card slots for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The Motorola ATRIX 2 sports dual cameras, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as HDMI port and built-in GPS receiver.
