The development team at Straight Right, the studio who is handling the port of Mass Effect 3 to the new Nintendo Wii U home console, has confirmed that the game will not support 1080p resolution when it is launched.

Tom Crago, who is the chief executive officer at Straight Right, has told the Official Nintendo Magazine that, “The game will run at 720p.”

Previous reports suggested that the game would run in the higher resolution setting.

Mass Effect 3 is one of the most successful action role-playing games of the year and BioWare says that the Wii U version of the game will have the same core mechanics as the version launched on Sony and Microsoft home consoles and the PC.

Nintendo has not yet announced the official launch date for its new home console or the price at launch, although it could do so at an event on September 13.
