14 DAY TRIAL // Nixeus is a US company that started off with media players and HDMI cables but which is ready to tackle the high-resolution monitor front, now that there is one area that others are neglecting: non-overpriced high-resolution displays.
We haven't seen Nixeus all that aggressively promoting the NX-VUE27, and even the order page on Amazon lacks the price.
The people at AnandTech claim to have discovered what the necessary sum of money is though, and it's a shocker, in the best possible way.
Instead of this being just another one of those extra expensive monitors with resolution beyond Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), NX-VUE27 is rated at a mere $430, which translates into 350 Euro.
That's right, even with a diagonal of 27 inches and a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, the display ships for less than $450. It is the first such panel that doesn't come with a price premium.
We don't know when shipments will begin, only that pre-orders will become possible in a couple of days. On the bright side, the report did have every other bit of relevant information, so we can share it with you all.
One thing is the LG S-IPS panel, A-Grade, which provides wider viewing angles than normal (178 degrees both horizontally and vertically). Another asset is the brightness of 380 cd/m2, which pairs with a contrast ratio of 1,500:1 to create a clear, high-quality image.
Furthermore, the screen can produce 16.7 million color images in a 16:9 aspect ratio (the resolution demands it) and at a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Finally, Nixeus implemented a response time of 6 ms (Gray to Gray), a couple of stereo speakers and several display inputs (VGA, HDMI 1.4, DVI Display Port 1.2). Everything runs on under 72W of power.
All things considered, the only things “lacking” are a thin profile and a slim bezel, but they aren't really all that relevant unless one is trying to set up multi-display configurations.
