Just yesterday, Japanese multinational automaker Nissan went public with the news that it had sold its 99,999th LEAF. Information shared with the public says that the vehicle is now the property of a woman named Amy Eichenberger.

“Amy Eichenberger of Charlottesville, Va., became the 99,999th global Nissan LEAF customer when she purchased her 100 percent electric vehicle (EV) at Colonial Nissan,” the automaker wrote in a press release marking the event.

“Amy, a 47-year-old mother of two, wasn’t even in the market for a new car. Then she spotted a University of Virginia colleague’s Nissan LEAF and decided she wanted to know more about the ‘modern-looking, futuristic and progressive’ car,” Nissan detailed.

Apparently, the 47-year-old woman was delighted by the car's design, and also loved the fact that the vehicle was zero-emissions.

The 100,000th Nissan LEAF was sold the day after to a dentist in the United Kingdom, Inside EVs reports.

By the looks of it, the Japanese multinational automaker can now take pride in the fact that its LEAF is the best-selling EV on a global scale. The vehicle earned this status some three years after its launching in the United States in December 2010.
