Nintendogs: Labrador and Friends Unlockables (DS)

When the player first starts the game, he or she is brought to the kennel to choose a dog. The player then selects one of five or six available breeds and is shown three dogs of that breed, varying in gender, personality and color (Note: If a player doesn't like the three dogs for a certain breed, he/she may simply go back to the breeds menu and go back to the same breed. Different dogs with different markings, colors, genders, and personalities will become available, but the first three dogs will be erased). Once the player comes to a final decision, the dog is taken home and the player is allowed to name his or her new pet. (Wikipedia)

Glitches

Take a walk anytime!
When going for a walk, go to the park. When you go to the park, change your dog's accessory to anything. The game saves it. When it does, turn off. Start again and you will be able to go for another walk.

N.B. This is most useful if you keep going through the question marks.

Secrets

Eating bone and lightbulb.
When training your dog occasionally an outline of a bone will appear on the screen, you can feed this to your dog by dragging it to its mouth, you can do the same with the light bulbs that appear above your dogs head when you are teaching them new tricks.

Find out if there is garbage or a present on the floor during a walk.

To find out if garbage or a present is approaching during one of your walks, look at the top screen. There should be the little dog symbol on the path that you drew. If that dog symbol stops and your dog is still walking, this indicates that either garbage or a present is coming up on the floor. If it is a present, tug your dog to a stop and your dog will notice it. It will pick it up and bring it over to you. It is easier to do this when your dog is running.

Get unlockable breeds easier.
Do Bark Mode with a dog in a breed that you don't have.

Example: Do Bark Mode with a Boxer and after you do Bark Mode with that dog, you will be able to buy the Boxer breed at the kennel.

NOTE: This only works the first time with each different version of the game. So you can do this trick one time with Dachshund & Friends, Chihuahua & Friends, and any other version of Nintendogs.

A close look of a Nintendogs fan's cute pups (sorry for the quality of the video):

Comment #2.1 by: Leanne on 27 Jul 2009, 20:14 GMT

I agree! Only cuz the dogs culd breed. Then the dogs kept on multiplying like crazy! And u cant even stop them from breeding, so if u have 10 dogs that u like, u HAVE TO give one away, u have no choice. it sux. then there heads started comeing off, not all the way. but it was stpd, then the dogs dont even react with eachother.

This game is good but i think it would be better if you could have puppies!

Comment #10.1 by: DogFreak38 on 12 Jul 2010, 06:14 GMT

They can have puppies

Comment #10.2 by: Glacia on 23 Sep 2010, 21:37 GMT

How do thay have puppies?

Comment #10.3 by: Nintendog101 on 27 Nov 2010, 16:06 GMT

They can't have puppies because they ARE puppies! and would make it even cooler if you could breed but you could get they spayed and neutered and stuffy!

Comment #10.4 by: Goldennintendog on 25 Sep 2011, 02:09 GMT

accually you can breed but it takes a while and here is how

put a rose or red bow on the female and a lucky collar or a red collar on the boy,
it will take about a few weeks and make sure thier the same breed because cross breeding will take about a month but there is another way to breed but you need to do barkmode with a friend or family member to do it. so when your dog and thier dog sniffs eachovers * turn off the ds's then back on when you get back, whoever has the female will see a smaller dog.
PS: make sure that you only had the female alone or with one other dog in your home before you did barkmode and I haven't tried breeding yet and I have dalmatian and friends.

Comment #11 by: Michelle on 20 Sep 2009, 05:53 UTC reply to this comment

Comment #12 by: Emily on 03 Oct 2009, 19:13 UTC reply to this comment

I love nintendogs. I may be in the 5th grade but it is awesome. On a scale 1-10, I rate 10.The only thing that could make it better is if you could personalize your own charactor to interact with your dogs.

Comment #13 by: Connor on 12 Oct 2009, 16:01 UTC reply to this comment

Nintendogs Lab + Friends is an amazing game. I'm 13, and have been playing it since I got my DS! (When I was 11) Its got great graphics and the dogs even seem to have their own personalities. I'd recommend this game to pretty much anyone.

I reckon Nintendogs is a great game. I love it and I'm thirteen years of age. It's keeps you excited as you train your dogs and meet new friends. It's adorable.

Comment #17 by: Helen on 04 Jan 2010, 18:52 UTC reply to this comment

I'm 11 and I love this game I'v had it for a year now it's well good but It could be even better if your puppies grew and had their own puppies, and if you could choose to live in a house, flat, bungalow etc and go around your house and look after yourself too, it would be like a sims 2 pets but a more realistic and better one. I have a dalmation called megan, a shih itzu-jack, a pug named Lucky, and a beagle named katie. I really want a chihuaha. Anyway out of 10would give it 8.5 ;) great game tho

Comment #18 by: Emily on 26 Jan 2010, 00:07 UTC reply to this comment

i agree with nearly all of you Nintendogs does so so so rock i have Labrador and friends , 2 dalmatian and friends and 1 dachshund and friends ! i agree about it would be good if they could have puppies but then they would have to grow older and eventually die and i don't want them to die so it is a hard choose =-I I HATE IT WHEN you have not been on for a while and when you go on it says you have already done 3 contests for everyone and that they cannot go on a walk for half an hour can anyone explain why this happens cause it really annoys me ?!?!?! anyway dogz (the game ) sucks you cant do much and after a short while you start to become very bored ......................NINTENDOGS ROCK I LOVE IT SOOOOOOOO MUCH ........................................

Cutest lil freaking puppies ever! My Labrodor Retriever is an 18 time chapion of agility triak! That's awesome! (TIP: To keep your record in the champions, save before you enter the contest. If you mess up or go too fast, simply turn your DS off and turn it on again.)

Comment #34 by: Paige on 27 Nov 2010, 23:04 UTC reply to this comment

me (14 years.) and my sister (18 years) love this game. I have played this up to 15 hours in one day. (road trip..) I have wonderful agility dogs. My shiba inu has won 18 times in a row. (yes, I'm proud.) and my other 4 dogs are in agility championships. And right now I'm attempting to get the jack russle breed. I recommend this game for all ages. (my small cousins, and small neighbors.. Ages 4-10.. Play this game like crazy!)

Comment #35 by: Konan on 11 Dec 2010, 21:13 UTC reply to this comment

Hey, it's not just a game, it's a virtual world where you can raise your very own realistic-like pet! its not about the age, heck even 50 year olds can play it!(if they know how to, that is.)

It's true, I'm a Nintendogs Master. You need a cheat to get all the trainer points. If you have an R4 or something, you just go to cheats and activate the one that says Max Trainer Points.
