Hide your children, lock your wives, a new DS Lite crack epidemic is about to emerge! There used to be reports of left side hinges cracking on the DS and the community took the news rather hard.
Nintendo fans everywhere started worrying about their mini console integrity although no cracks were in sight. Here we go again. Various right side cracks reports surfaced the internet, with photographic evidence to boot.
Reportedly, the crack occurring between the R button and power light seems to be quite common. Should the owners be less responsible for the flaw than Nintendo's manufacturing design, a lot of DS Lites are in serious danger of ceasing to function properly. It's quite scary to imagine there is actually a website dedicated to these kind of issues, be they legit or simply rare factory failures -
DS Lite Cracks . The initiator of the thread said on the MaxConsole forums said: "There have been many cases of cracks forming on the right side of the DS between the power light and the R button. When these cracks get worse, the DS starts to fall apart, and becomes unplayable. This is a serious issue."
But the real question is: "Can it happen to you?" In theory, the hinge on the left side is coming too tight from factory or the plastic is too brittle. Once the left hinge cracks, the whole hinge is likely out of wack and the other side starts to bind and break at wherever its weakest point is to relieve stress. It's not the first time the community cried wolf though. We'll just have to keep an eye out for those pesky cracks and hope Nintendo keeps true to its long standing of delivering merchandise of exemplary quality.
