Nintendo's downloads list for the Halloween week has arrived and it seems worthy enough to be a holiday release. If anything, it has definitely hit the classic themes: zombies, pirates, ghosts, barbarians and sudoku. OK, maybe the last one isn't really a classic and is not at all scary, but we can call it a bonus. And, if not, we can consider it the trick in the bag of treats Nintendo put together for us.
You'll be able to get your bag full of pirates in Telltale Games' Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 3 on the
Wii. This time, Guybrush Threepwood will find himself deep inside the bowels of a giant manatee, where he will encounter several other stranded seamen, including the long-lost explorer Coronado De Cava. You will have to deal with these characters and win their trust in order to find La Esponja Grande and save the fair Elaine. "Lair of the Leviathan," as the chapter has been named, will take you yet another step towards the culminating finale of the adventure for the mere price of 1,000 Wii points.
The second game for the Wii is Ghost Mansion Party and it will have players search for the hidden treasures of Fazzy the ghost. Gameloft's title will have them chase around the mansion in a board-game style that will trigger all sorts of mini-games. The 1,000 Wii-point game was rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and will give the Halloween flavor without any of the real scare.
The virtual Console also gets two additions, in the shape of
Lucas Arts's Zombies Ate My Neighbors and the famous Golden Axe, published by Sega. The 800 Wii-point zombier will have players take control of either Zeke or Julie to explore 48 levels of madness and fun. The popular Golden Axe will let them face the hordes of minions unleashed by the evil Death Adder that has invaded their land and has taken as prisoners the king and princess. Last but not least, the DSiWare receives the PictureBook Games: The Royal Bluff, a test of wits and cunning and a new set of challenges for the well-known Sudoku.
