Eiji Aonumna, the current producer working on The Legend of Zelda series, says that his team is careful when creating new games in the franchise after fans reacted badly to the reveal of Wind Waker in 2002.

The developer is quoted by NintendoEverything as saying that, “If we find a new approach that not just the developers, but also the users would enjoy then I think we will want to break new ground again. But we haven’t found such an approach yet.”

The original Wind Waker has been re-released on the Wii U and fan reaction shows that in the 11 years since the game was initially delivered, many have come to embrace its controversial art style.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will be launched on the Nintendo 3DS on November 22 in both the United States and Europe.
