The company wants smaller events targeted at special groups

Nintendo has just confirmed that it won't hold a huge press conference at E3 2013 in June, as the company has decided to organize several, smaller gatherings targeted at the public present at the expo.

As part of this strategy, it will air special Direct videos for each specific market, including Japan, North America, and Europe.

The E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) of 2013 takes place in June, and both Sony and Microsoft have confirmed that they'll hold big conferences in which their next-generation consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720, respectively, will be presented in all their glory.

Nintendo, on the other hand, has apparently decided to shift its strategy and confirmed that it won't hold a huge presentation at the event, instead focusing on smaller gatherings with its different groups of visitors.

"We have decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata wrote on the official website.

"Instead, at the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market. There will be one closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media."

Other means of communication will be used by Nintendo during E3, including its special Direct video conferences, in which executives share details and footage of upcoming games.

According to Iwata, this decision was made because one huge conference couldn't entertain all the different consumer groups.

"As video game fans are looking for information about games, it seems that they are less interested in sales figures that investors and analysts on the other hand attach much greater importance to, and distribution partners are looking for information on how we are going to market our products in the immediate future," said Iwata.

"Given that we now have an established method such as Nintendo Direct, we feel that we will be able to deliver our messages more appropriately and effectively by doing so individually based on the various needs of different groups of people."

Expect to hear more about Nintendo's different gatherings at E3 2013 as we get closer to the event's start on June 11.
