Video game publisher Nintendo has announced that it plans to launch Pokemon Black & White 2 companion applications that will enhance the experience of those who engage with the popular franchise.

The company detailed one app called the AR Searcher, which is based on the Augmented Reality capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS and will see the players capture a variety of Pokemon that can then be carried over the main game.

Another app is an upgraded version of the Pokedex 3D, which will allow players to get information and background for the series.

Pokemon Black & White 2 is the first full sequel in the long-running series and will be launched in Japan on June 23.

The game is also headed to the West in time for a fall release.

Players will explore a new area of the region seen in the original Black & White and will get access to a range of new creatures to recruit and fight with.
