Video game and hardware developer Nintendo says that it currently has no plans to offer any sort of mini-games based on franchises like Mario and The Legend of Zelda on smartphones in order to promote titles that are available on the Wii U home console and the 3DS handheld.

Gamasutra quotes the company as stating that, “Mr Iwata has also stated that Nintendo's intention is not to make Nintendo software available on smart devices and as such, we can confirm that there are no plans to offer minigames on smartphone devices.”

Rumors suggested that the company might launch mini-games and other specialized content via a new mobile app in order to reverse its current decline.

Nintendo recently announced that it would only sell about 2.8 million Wii U consoles instead of 9 million.

A move towards mobile launches for big franchises is seen by some analysts as a good future move for the company.
