14 DAY TRIAL // Nintendo just released the latest system software update for the Wii U console, build number 5.1.0 U, adding the ability to transfer data between Wii U platforms, among other things.
Similar to the way it works on the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming device, users will be able to move their games, apps, settings and save files from one console to another one, after which the machine that the data was copied from will be formatted.
The update also introduces several other features, such as support for additional controllers in the system's eShop. Previously, only the Wii U GamePad could be utilized to navigate the app, but now gamers can also make use of the Wii Remote, Wii U Pro Controller or Classic Controller.
In addition to this, Japanese users also get the ability to add funds to their eShop wallet by using Suica, a contactless smart card that is used to pay for train fares, similar to how Oyster works, or other NFC systems.
The feature allows gamers to simply swipe their Suica cards across the GamePad's built-in NFC reader, allowing for a quick and easy way to add funds to an account.
Of course, the 5.1.0 U update also introduces a ton of system stability and usability adjustments and improvements.
