Nintendo might release its long awaited Wii U home console on November 18 in North America, at least according to a leaked statement from gaming accessory company PDP, which quickly dismissed it as a misunderstanding.

The GameStop managers’ conference is in full swing nowadays in Texas and, according to Kotaku, PDP showcased some of its upcoming Wii U accessories to the crowd, saying that they’ll be released just ahead of the Nintendo Wii U’s November 18 release.

This led to a series of rumors and an official PDP representative came forward, saying that it was a misunderstanding and that it has yet to be informed by Nintendo about the Wii U’s actual launch date.

November 18 falls on a Sunday and, given the fact that both the Wii and the recent 3DS XL were also launched on Sundays, it makes sense.

What’s more, the Wii U will make it into stores right before Thanksgiving and the crucial Black Friday shopping day.

As of yet, however, Nintendo isn’t commenting on the rumor.

It’s expected, however, that the company will finally reveal the release date and price of the Wii U to the world on September 13, during a special press conference.
