Nintendo has just posted a few new details about the upcoming Wii U firmware update to be released next week, confirming that, besides the increased interface speed, the software also gives owners the option of moving data between USB drives and to install downloaded software while playing another game.

Nintendo's Wii U may not be on the receiving end of many games, but the company is adamant that its console will stand the test of time and has just confirmed a few more details about the next software update for the device.

Besides bringing a faster interface, the fresh firmware, according to the latest Direct video, allows data to be switched between USB drives and allows owners to install downloaded software while playing another game or installing updates without being prompted.

The firmware also allows the Wii U to download and install games while it's on stand-by.

The new Wii U software still doesn't have an actual release date, although it's expected to appear next week.
