Your mom would probably have been happier with the original price

Let's forget for two seconds about the PS3 (if you can) and focus more on the Nintendo Wii. As you probably know, the Wii launch is a couple of days away and I bet that - once you read this - you'll go to stand in line to get one.

The official price for the Wii is about US$ 250, but how would you like it if it were sold for just US$ 100? This may sound fantasy-like, but according to an interview with Nintendo's Miyamoto in Business Week, the Japanese company first planned out the Wii as a US$ 100 machine.

Apparently, Nintendo was forced to increase the price of their next-gen, because they implemented in their machine NAND flash memory, in order to allow gamers to store data, games and photos to be exact.

As the interview goes on, Nintendo representatives admit that the DS had a major influence on the Wii's design. So, I guess it's safe to say that if the Nintendo DS had been such a great success, we wouldn't be able to play next-gen games on the Wii.

If you didn't already know, Nintedo Wii will be released in the U.S. on November 19, in Japan on December 2 and Europe will get to see it on December 8.
