Nintendo has seemingly operated the often rumored price cut for its Wii console, with large North American retailers like GameStop, Best Buy or Amazon selling a black Nintendo Wii bundle for just $169, down from the regular $200 price tag.

Nintendo's Wii home console has been slipping in terms of sales for quite some now, with rivals like the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 reaping the benefits and increasing their user base in detriment to the Japanese device.

Now, after many rumors concerning such a move, Nintendo has operated a price cut for the device, slashing its price in order to make it more attractive in front of its rivals.

As of right now, North American retailers Best Buy, GameStop or Amazon are selling a black Nintendo Wii bundle for $169.99, while other store chains, including Target or Walmart, are expected to operate the price cut in the following days.

The bundle includes a black Nintendo Wii, a Wii Remote Plus controller, which comes packed in with a Wii Motion Plus add-on, a Nunchuk sub-controller, as well as two games, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

All these items were previously available for $200, so a price cut of at least $30 was made by the Japanese company.

Previous rumors revealed that Nintendo was set to make a $50 price cut to its home console, and that a special bundle with a game like Mario Kart, was set to cost a bit extra.

Nintendo hasn't made any official announcement regarding the move, but retailers have already cut the price, so, if you've been delaying the purchase of a Wii up until now, you might want to act now

You should put off that commitment just yet, however, as rumors are circulating about an upcoming Wii 2 announcement, which is set to happen at this summer's E3 conference.

Nintendo didn't comment on the possibility of a new device just yet, but, judging by the speculation coming from all areas of the industry, it's just a matter of time before we can see the new Wii HD, Wii 2 or whatever it will be called.
