On the WiiShop Channel, Nintendo is announcing the release of two new games, which are available to all those playing on a Nintendo Wii and ready to spend a few Wii Points. The most interesting release of the week is the WiiWare title, which is built around the idea of the 8 bit game and shows how they can be adapted to the modern world.

On the WiiWare service, players can get the aptly named BIT.TRIP BEAT created by Aksys Games. The game supports up to four players, is rated E for Everyone and only cost 600 Wii Points. BIT.TRIP BEAT has been created with a retro look and feel in mind but the developers also made sure that the unique control method of the Nintendo Wii is being used to good effect.

The game is fully rooted in the rhythm genre and only uses 8 bit tracks, banking on the idea that a significant audience exists for this type of games that evoke nostalgia. One of the most interesting aspects is the four-player multiplayer, which allows gamers to go up one against another in this retro gaming challenge.

In the Virtual Console, a service designed to offer younger gamers a chance to play the hits of the past, those who own a Nintendo Wii have the opportunity to get Summer Games II, which was originally released for the Commodore 64. The game is rated E for Everyone and costs 500 Wii Points.

As the name implies, the game is set to simulate the atmosphere of the Olympic Games, with a hundred countries and almost one thousand athletes taking part in various events. Summer Games II simulates sports like cycling, equestrian, fencing, high jump, javelin, kayaking, rowing and triple jump. There's an option to practice all the events before trying a competitive race, in order to get the feel of the game.
