Symphonic Orchestra to fight against Rock Band and Guitar Hero?

While Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock just got a downloadable track pack and Rock Band is still a success, the Nintento Wii lacks a music-star game. Nintendo had its share of problems regarding this topic, since their first game based on the music industry, Wii Music, was announced back in 2005 but got canceled over and over again, now being scheduled for an unspecified 2008 release.

But things can't remain like this for the music fans all over the world who own a Wii console - indeed Nodame Cantabile: Dream Orchestra is expected to be released in Japan only, but what about the others? Kando Games tries to answer that questions and they're working on a title, Symphonic Orchestra.

If this is a game meant to fight against the bigger and more hardcore Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3, the outcome of the battle could still be doubtful: Symphonic Orchestra, as its name suggests, will allow gamers to play and learn... classical music. So say good-bye to The Rolling Stones, Linking Park or Rage Against The Machine! It's time for Carmen from Bizet, The Traviata from Verdi or The Ninth Symphony from Beethoven.

The game will be, like most of the Wii games, one with an easy and intuitive gameplay and especially tolerant with beginners. The Wiimote (if no other special controller will be created) will be used to perform the moves and direct your orchestra in famous places over the world, like the Opera of Vienna, Berlin or Paris.

So, are people really into playing this kind of music? While the answer tends to be a "no", one thing is certain: the parents would enjoy to see their kids directing a symphonic orchestra, rather than jumping around, singing some hardcore rock tunes. And we all know that the Nintendo Wii is always fun, so the breath of fresh air this new game will offer might prove to be exactly what we need.
