On October 7, Nintendo will launch Nintendogs in Europe. The game has been a huge success in the United States, where it sold 250,000 copies in the first weekend after the launch.

In Nintendogs, the players will have to take care of a virtual dog, the game being an updated version of the famous Tamagotchi. Nintendogs looks more realistic and since the Nintendo consoles have wireless capabilities, the players can also organize meetings with other virtual dogs.

The interaction between the player and Nintendogs takes place via the console's touch-screen type display or through vocal commands. The dogs can even be trained.

In Japan, a country where Tamagotchi was also a huge success, Nintendo has sold so far 1 million copies of Nintendogs.

In fact, the game's success allows Nintendo to offer a 10% cut on the Nintendo DS console in Europe; the device will be priced at 129 Euro.

Nintendo is trying this way to fight the PSP effect, Sony selling several hundreds of thousands of units in only a few days since the European launch date.
