The company needs to adjust its expectations for the future

Michael Pachter, the analyst watching the video game industry for Wedbush Morgan, says that Nintendo is at the moment unable to accept the simple reality that the Wii U home console is unattractive to gamers.

He is quoted by IGN as explaining that the Nintendo-made device is losing even more potential sales as gamers are focused on the recently launched Xbox One from Microsoft and PlayStation 4 from Sony and on mobile devices.

The company has reported that just 300,000 units of the Wii U have been sold in a three-month period, which makes it impossible to reach the projected sales for the current fiscal year.

Pachter believes that Nintendo will continue to “steadfastly refuse to consider that the product is not interesting to consumers. They will fail to hit 9 million, and they will likely miss their profit goals.”

The fortunes of the console have been improved somewhat by the launch of new Zelda and Mario titles.
