Nintendo is really, really rubbing it in the eyes of the competition. As if the humiliation of the various sales charts was not enough, the company is releasing some internal data showing the sales of the games it released for the Nintendo Wii and the DS during last year. 26 titles have broken through the 1 million unit sales barrier, qualifying as blockbusters. And some of the games have gone way beyond that number.

Nintendogs, which has seen five different variants released for the Nintendo DS since 2005, has now sold more than 21 million units world wide, with its simple gameplay mechanics and easy to play concepts. Simplicity is one of the qualities underlining most of the games on Nintendo's list, which shows that the company managed to understand how to attract a lot of casual and non gamers to its products.

New Super Mario Bros. sold 17.63 million, while Brain Age sold 16.82 million, which is more than Pokemon Diamond/Pearl managed to move. Even a product that can be hardly classified as a game, like Personal Trainer: Cooking, reached 1.68 million units in sales.

On the Wii, the biggest performer is Wii Sports, which reached 40.50 million copies sold since release. Wii Play, a game that comes bundled with Wiimote, sold almost 21 million units, while Wii Fit, packed together with the Balance Board peripheral, sold a little over 14 million units. Other titles that sold well are Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party, Link's Crossbow Training, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Wii Music and Mario Super Sluggers.

Nintendo also laid out plans for the release of new products, saying that the Nintendo DSi, the new handheld console that sports two cameras and no GBA port, is set to arrive in the West in spring or summer.
