Video game hardware maker and publisher Nintendo is posting its official financial results and there’s little for fans of the company to celebrate as the Wii U performs worse than projections showed and the old DS is abandoned as a viable platform.

Nintendo reveals that its operating loss came in at 36 billion Yen, about 361 million dollars (277 million Euro), according to figures cited by NeoGAF.

The Wii U managed to move only 390,000 units during the quarter between January and March 2013, which is a smaller number than the company expected.

During the same period, the older Wii has managed to deliver 450,000 devices to players and its software sales are also solid.

Nintendo is also abandoning the older DS platform in order to focus on the 3DS handheld, which has managed to post a solid performance after a wobbly launch.
