The hardware is not yet final at this stage

Despite the fact that many fans are eager to hear information about the new NX series of gaming devices, it seems that the leadership of Nintendo does not have any plans to bring details to the coming E3 2015 event.

According to a press conference from president Satoru Iwata, who was speaking to Japanese media, his company is focusing on its current line-up of hardware and might only be interested in talking about the future starting next year.

Kotaku quotes the executive as saying that "Because we are calling it a 'new concept,' we are not thinking of this as a 'simple replacement' for the 3DS or the Wii U."

This means that, at E3 2015, Nintendo will focus on the way it can boost sales for the Wii U home console and the 3DS handheld and will deliver more details on the titles that will be coming out for them in the next 12 months.

Fans will be disappointed that the company is focusing on what many gamers see as already obsolete hardware instead of concentrating on the future of its business.

The Wii U has been a relative disappointment since it was introduced, and at the moment, it seems that there's no way for it to compete with the Xbox One from Microsoft or the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Details about the NX are probably in short supply at Nintendo

The Japanese hardware maker and software publisher only mentioned the new hardware platform publicly in March, and since then it has offered no clear information about it.

Presumably, development on the concept is currently ongoing and Nintendo does not have anything final to show to the public.

The company has recently announced that it is planning to launch a new integrated reward program that will allow it to link accounts that gamers use on their Wii U, 3DS, smartphones and on the future hardware.

The classic Club Nintendo will be shut down at the end of September.

The company is also set to deliver a range of smartphone experiences this year, based on its biggest franchises, which will be used to boost sales for its line-up of video games.

Nintendo is also working with Universal to turn Mario and the like into attractions in theme parks all over the world.
