This week's Nintendo WiiWare and DSiWare updates are a bit on the weird side, including regular puzzle and racing titles but also an NES classic, Faxanadu, and a rather peculiar fireplace simulator.

The WiiWare service has received two full games and two demos.

The first is Jewel Keepers: Easter Island, a puzzle title that sees you explore the famous Easter Island and solve a wide array of challenges along the way in order to uncover the truth behind the statues on the island, all for 500 Wii Points.

Next up, we have Cozy Fire which, in case you haven't figured it out, delivers an authentic fireplace simulator, with a variety of different settings, like campfire, rustic or elegant, and offers a variety of logs that you can throw into the fire and watch it burn.

The whole experience of watching a virtual fire on your TV will cost you 500 Wii Points.

A demo for Rage of the Gladiator is next, showcasing the brutal fantasy-based fighting game that costs 1,000 Wii Points in its full version.

It expands on the regular gladiator matches from ancient Rome and allows you destroy opponents, fight boss battles and use a wide array of powers and magic talents to become victorious.

The last demo is for Learning with the PooYoos: Episode 1, a great kids game that teaches them a wide array of things, from dancing to reading, with the help of the PooYoos, a band of baby animals that makes it that much easier.

The full game is available for 500 Wii Points.

The Virtual Console has received a new classic released originally for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Faxanadu from Hudson Entertainment.

You play as an adventurer that finds his hometown in great peril, as the water supply is running out while the trees are slowly withering, putting the whole ecosystem in danger.

Solve puzzles, fight and discover new environments for 500 Wii Points.

Nintendo DSi owners will be able to enjoy three new games released on the DSiWare.

First off, we have G.G Series Drift Circuit, a racing game from Genterprise that, like its name suggests, centers around drifting and costs 200 DSi Points.

The game hosts an array of different three-lap races, each with different challenges that must be completed in order to move on to the next events.

Artic Escape is next, tasking you with guiding a bunch of penguins that must get back to their native Antarctica, for 500 DSi Points.

You'll lead them through over 100 levels and issue commands such as walking, jumping and waiting in order to avoid traps and other such dangers.

Last but not least, we have another racing game, Remote Racers, which allows you to select from eight vehicles and race against the AI on 15 tracks that allow you to jump, drift, dive into the ocean or ride along the beach, all for 500 DSi Points.
