Nintendo has managed to bounce back in the United States, taking the first and second place in hardware sales with the Wii and the DS and placing third with New Super Mario Bros. after the juggernaut Modern Warfare 2. And it seems that the company is keen on keeping the momentum by announcing its release plans for the two platforms for the first six months of the coming year.

Cammie Dunaway, who is the executive vice president for Sales & Marketing for Nintendo of America, said that “During the holidays, tens of millions of Americans are going to spend enjoyable hours with both Wii and Nintendo DS. And the enjoyment will only grow in the early weeks of 2010, whether your taste in gaming comes from exploring ocean depths, catching, training and battling Pokémon or even designing your own micro-games.”

On the hardware side, the company is getting ready to introduce two new colors for the Wiimote, coming on February 14. The motion tracking controller will now be available in pink and blue versions and both of them will be sold bundled with the Motion Plus add on, which enhances the capabilities of the Wiimote, in a move clearly designed to make sure that more and more gamers have the enhanced controller as they require its use and as Project Natal and the Sony wand are getting ready for launch.

When it comes to games, Nintendo is pointing out that Endless Ocean: Blue World is coming out on February 22 and that Tatsunoko VS. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is set for a January release, the first fighting title exclusive to the Nintendo Wii.

Activision is preparing How To Train Your Dragon for March 23 and Disney Interactive Studios will launch Alice in Wonderland during March. SEGA of America is contributing with Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll, and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, while Ubisoft is set to release No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle.
