If you remember, several rumors emerged last month regarding Nintendo DS's new headset. Well, the first image of the product is already on the Internet spurring debates and 'tickling' everybody's curiosity.
Nintendo has integrated in its successful DS two ports - one for a microphone and the other for the headphones. Moreover, also the Xbox 360 comes with a similar headset; the resemblance is strictly related to the features, as both are mono-channel headphones that are meant to be connected to the controller for in-game communication.
"The new peripheral is a microphone and earpiece that is mono-channel only, which means it will not be ideal for stereo gaming. It is speculated that the peripheral is scheduled to be released in time to be used for the Pokemon line of video games, which allows voice chat. The headset can also be used in Metroid Prime Hunters, a game that has online voice chat capabilities," informs Daily Tech.
It is said that Nintendo DS's headset will be available in Japan starting September 14 for 1,200¥ (about $10). Nintendo has not yet announced a release date for North American or European gamers.
To understand why these headphones generated such an enthusiasm all over the world, you should know that the DS is America's top-selling video game system of any type.
"Nintendo DS is the only game system available a year ago that showed growth over the same period, and it did so in overwhelming fashion, with a leap of 426 percent," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "What we're seeing is realization of our promise that Nintendo will bring gaming to the masses-whatever your taste or level of experience, we've got a system and a game for you."
