Video game publisher Activision has announced that on November 9 players who are interested in gaming while on the move will be able to pick up a Nintendo DS version of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops, the first person shooter which is also coming to the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC platform. The handheld version of the game will work with all the members of the DS line up and will allow players to take part in the most secret and toughest missions that special forces operatives took part in during the era of the Cold War.

Dan O’Leary, who is the leader of the n-Space development studio, stated, “Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Nintendo DS is going to take the handheld Call of Duty experience to a new level. From taking the controls of an attack helicopter to flying an experimental stealth fighter jet, players will have a wealth of new features to utilize.”

The Nintendo DS version of Call of Duty: Black Ops will not be just a downsized port of the console and PC game. Players will be able to enjoy a complex six player ready online multiplayer mode that features a Perks system that tracks development of the player. There's also a new Cooperative Mode for two players and the DS port of the new Call of Duty also introduces Arcade and Challenge Modes, designed to encourage gamers to play again through the single player missions in order to get the points they need to get more achievements.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is developed for consoles and PC by Treyarch, the studio that after the implosion of Infinity Ward seems to be the main one working on the franchise. The game is set to be one of the biggest launches of 2010 even if its unlikely that it will replicate the success of Modern Warfare 2.
