Nintendo is just finishing off its 3DS-centric press conference ahead of the Tokyo Games Show 2011, which kicks off later this week, and made quite a few big announcements about its handheld platform, including a variety of new games that will arrive on it.

Nintendo is bent on making its 3DS console a huge success, just like its predecessor, the DS, so, after the recent price cut that boosted sales by 260 percent, it's now starting to confirm new games for it left and right.

At its 3DS conference before TGS 2011, the company presented a whopping 28 games. These include some we already knew about, like Luigi's Mansion, Mario & Sonic at the London Olympics or Resident Evil: Revelations, but also many we had no idea about.

Among the all-new announcements we have Mario Tennis, a new sports game with the iconic character which is set to support the gyroscopic sensors of the 3DS device. Another is Fire Emblem, which is the first in an all new franchise, designed for cooperative gameplay. A new installment in the Animal Crossing series is also scheduled to appear for the 3DS, with robust online connectivity, including the sharing of houses, that can now be modified both on the inside and the outside, via SpotPass.

Many third-party games were also presented by Nintendo, including the recently leaked Monster Hunter 3G, but also an all-new Monster Hunter 4 designed specifically for the 3DS. Other new titles, like Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble or Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater have also been showcased.

Sadly, there was also bad news, including the delay of Kid Icarus: Uprising, which is now supposed to come out in the first quarter of 2012.
