Video game publisher and hardware maker Nintendo says that Brazil, China, Mexico and Spain are the main territories that United States needs to target in its effort to reduce the impact of piracy. The
company states in a contribution to the Office of the United States Trade Representative’s annual Special 301 Report that it is affected by the “prevalence and ease of illegal online distribution, as well as the continued manufacture, assembly, distribution, import, export and sale of counterfeit Nintendo video game products across the globe.”
Nintendo says the Wii U, the Wii and the 3DS are facing tens of thousands of lost sales and that, in the future, the company might be forced to scale down development if it fails to sell more copies.
The publisher says that it has anti-piracy problems in more than 40 countries and that it plans to invest more in battling the phenomenon.
