Yesterday took place the much awaited Nintendo Fall Press Conference which represented all of the Japanese company's big announcements for the following period. Much speculation has been made about what innovations Nintendo would bring to their current product lineup and what other goodies there would be for their consumers. One of their special news was that starting spring, all Wii owners would be able to download games directly to an SD memory card.

"We have to address the console's insufficient memory storage," said Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata. Storage has been a delicate problem for the Wii since its launch, the console only offering the bare minimum of space where you can put your games saved or store the games downloaded from WiiWare or Virtual Console. A 512 flash memory just wasn't enough for all the people who wanted to keep their favorite games on their home console, instead of bothering with changing discs and other things.

They also announced a new selection of games which would be available for the small and white console. And don't think about any Wii Music or other stuff, these are really well known games. Punch-Out, Another Code, Dinasty Warriors and the much awaited Sin & Punishment 2. All great games that will definitely make Wii owners happy.

As a special feature, the Japanese company will be making a new “Play On Wii Selection” which will consist of older GameCube titles. This will only be a reminder to those players who have forgotten or don't know that all the GameCube games are already backwards compatible with the Wii. The first game to enter this selection is Pikmin, one of the first real time strategy titles available for the GameCube.

All in all, some pretty interesting announcements delivered by Nintendo that are sure to make Wii owners really happy and to attract possible clients into buying a console.
