The Nintendo 3DS handheld has managed to once again top the Japanese weekly hardware chart while the top position in the software top ten has been taken over by a Pokemon-powered video game.

The Nintendo 3DS has managed to sell 64,017 units during the week that ended on March 18 in order to keep its top position, posting sales that are about 4,000 consoles lower than those seen during the previous seven-day period.

The PlayStation 3 home console from Sony has managed to keep its hold over second place, with sales that have gone down from 34,816 to 27,900 while the older PlayStation Portable handheld has actually seen an increase in sales in order to take the last place on the hardware podium with 18,633 units delivered to gamers.

The PlayStation Vita, the new handheld from Sony, continues to lose sales week after week and has only managed to sell a little over 10,000 devices for the tracked period.

The Nintendo Wii has also seen a decline of its fortunes and sold 8,127 devices while the very old PlayStation 2 from Sony has managed to outsell the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the DSi LL and the normal DSi.
