Ninjatown is a tower defense strategy video game developed by Venan Entertainment and published by SouthPeak Interactive exclusively for the Nintendo DS in October 28, 2008. The game is based on characters created by famous toy designer, artist and former editor of Electronic Gaming Monthly Shawn Smith. He is the artist behind the Shawnimals line of toys, with Ninjatown being based on one character from the Shawnimal franchise, the Wee Ninja.
Ninjatown is a peaceful small town populated by Ninjas, as the title suggests, but things change when, after a volcanic eruption, the once quiet town is invaded by enemies, led by the evil Mr. Demon, who is bent on wiping out the whole village and destroying the ninjas who inhabit it. In order to defend it, the player controls Ol' Master Ninja, who must construct Ninja huts in order to protect the once quiet Ninjatown from the waves of relentless enemies.
When one enemy reaches a certain point on the screen, the game counts it as a successful invasion and takes one life from the player who has ten at the beginning of each level. Based on how many lives the player has lost, at the end of each level, Ninjatown awards a grade, ranging from A to D. If the player hasn't lost any lives, he is given an A grade, but if he or she lost 1-2 or 3-4 lives, then they will get a B or a C, respectively. If the player loses any more lives, then he or she will receive a D. If all lives are lost, the level needs to be restarted. When and if such a thing happens for more than one time, the player has the chance to start the level on the easy difficulty, and will get an E if he completes it, no matter how many lives he has left.
