New Symbian game

eyeSight, an Israel-based game developer, recently released Ninja Strike, a new game for Symbian phones. Ninja Strike is the first mobile game that allows you to use real-life actions when playing. The game can be controlled by moving your hand in front of the phone's camera: the 3D motions are captured and turned into game commands, enabling you to do "ninja tricks" as if you would have done them for real. So if you always dreamed of being a ninja but didn't get the chance to become one, Ninja Strike is definitely for you.

In the game you're (obviously) a ninja and you must find your Sensei, who is held captive by the Kurai ninjas. Your powers stand in the deadly ninja stars but also in various special abilities that you must discover during the game. The game has a total of 5 levels (village, street alley, forest, subway station and temple) where you can practice your ninja skills. I guess a sound advice is not to play in public, as you'd look a bit weird moving your hand in front of your phone's camera with a fierce face expression (to intimidate the ninja enemies, of course).

Ninja Strike is compatible with lots of Symbian based mobile phones from all the major manufacturers, including Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG. Of course, for playing, your phone must have a built-in photo camera.

The game was nominated for the International Mobile Gaming Awards last year, in the Excellence in Gameplay category, but it didn't win, losing in favor of "Dirk Dagger and the Fallen Idol", developed by Jadestone and published by Nokia.

For the moment, Ninja Strike is only available via the Israeli Orange website, found at this address, but eyeSight will soon bring it to many other international gaming platforms.

Until then, you can watch a video presentation of Ninja Strike, found at this address. Skip the commercial from the beginning and don't try to understand too much of what the guy is saying, unless you know Hebrew. May the ninja spirit be with you.
