Speaking to VG247, Yosuke Hayashi, who is the leader of the Team Ninja development team, spoke to VG247 about the project and said, “We’re not just focused on the high-speed, crazy battle stuff all the time. We really want to give players a lot of undulation in gameplay. We want players to feel the drama, then have a bit of a break, then go back to drama – almost like you’re watching a movie.”

For the new game the Team Ninja developers are trying to make Ryu Hayabusa a little more human, with Hayashi talking about how he might be seen as an equivalent to well-known reluctant heroes like renowned comic book characters Spider-Man and Superman

Despite the fact that character is more important than ever to the Ninja Gaiden series, the developers will continue to focus on delivering tough challenges in the player's path, testing his skills with all the game mechanics.

Team Ninja acknowledges that there's now a clear gap in the abilities of those who have been with the series since the beginning and those who are just now seeing Ryu in action for the first time.

Hayashi says, “But one thing with this whole difficulty issue is that players got used to the game. Because it has such a long history, good players got used to it, and the gap between casual players, standard players versus the hardcore has just been widening and widening as the series progressed.”

But Team Ninja has a solution in the form of something called “playstyles,” allowing categories of gamers to tackle it in different ways depending on their skill and their way of playing.

Gamers will get to play Ninja Gaiden 3 during February 2012 on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii U version will be launched alongside the new console.
