On May 31th, Canonical announced that new vulnerabilities were found in the Linux kernel packages, this time affecting the OMAP4 edition of the Ubuntu 11.04, Ubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS operating systems.

The following two vulnerabilities affect the Ubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS OMAP4 kernel: CVE-2012-1601 and CVE-2012-2123.

The following five vulnerabilities affect the Ubuntu 11.04 OMAP4 kernel: CVE-2011-4086, CVE-2012-1090, CVE-2012-1097, CVE-2012-1146 and CVE-2012-2100.

As usual, you can click on each one to see how it affects your system, or go here, here and here for in-depth descriptions.

The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system to the linux-image-2.6.38-1209-omap4 package for Ubuntu 11.04, linux-image-3.0.0-1210-omap4 for Ubuntu 11.10, and linux-image-3.2.0-1413-omap4 for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Don't forget to reboot your computer after the upgrade!

ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change, the kernel packages have a new version number, which will force you to reinstall and recompile all third-party kernel modules you might have installed. Moreover, if you use the linux-restricted-modules package, you have to update it as well to get modules that work with the new Linux kernel version.
