Activision Blizzard, the well-known publisher that is in charge of the Guitar Hero franchise, has announced that the month of January will be an important one for the music simulation series, with a number of new bands coming to the game, including such names as Nine Inch Nails, A Day To Remember, Hawthorne Heights and The Used.

Nine Inch Nails, who are already present on the soundtrack of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock with “Wish,” will deliver three more songs to the game: “Head Like A Hole” from “Pretty Hate Machine,” “The Hand That Feeds,” the leading single from “With Teeth” and “Closer,” taken off their 1994 album ”The Downward Spiral.”

A Day to Remember are new to Guitar Hero and they will be offering tracks like: “All I Want” and “2nd Sucks” that have appeared on “What Separates Me from You” and “The Downfall Of Us All,” taken from their third album “Homesick”.

The January mega downloadable content pack also includes: “We've Got A Situation Here,” the main single from the album “Ironiclast” from the Damned Things, “Rescue Me” from Hawthorne Heights and the “Fragile Future” album, “Wings Of A Butterfly,” the well-known single from HIM and “"Buried Myself Alive” from The Used and their self-named debut album.

Activision says that the January Mega Pack can be obtained on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1440 Microsoft Points, on the Nintendo Wii for 1800 Wii Points and on the PlayStation Store for 17.99 dollars.

The music genre has seen a serious slump in the last few months of 2010, with both Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and its main rival Rock Band 3 from Harmonix, selling far less than previous installments in their franchises.

Viacom has sold Harmonix to an investment firm while Activision has not announced future plans for Guitar Hero.
