Trent Reznor is looking for a new Nine Inch Nails bassist after Eric Avery, who was supposed to join the band on their 2013-2014 tour, announced that he was out of the project.

Avery makes the announcement on his Facebook and takes extra caution to make it clear that his decision had nothing to do with tension within the band, but just with his feeling overwhelmed by the demands of the tour.

He also says he has other projects to think of, projects that he would be neglecting altogether if he went ahead and hit the road with NIN.

“It's with very mixed emotions I tell you all that I'm pulling out of NIN. I know. It's been a tough call and I don't know if it's the right one. But I really want to focus on my musical life here in L.A., on film work in particular,” Avery writes.

“Fortunately my friend Trent understands all this and appreciated my pulling the plug now instead of deep into 2013 and 14. Go get 'em gentlemen,” he adds.
