Until not long ago, Nina Dobrev was dating her “Vampire Diaries” co-star and overall hottie Ian Somerhalder, but the two decided to go their separate ways. As of this summer, she’s been seeing DWTS pro dancer Derek Hough, it has emerged.

Rumors about a possible romance have been making the rounds as of August, but neither Nina nor Derek was in any rush to confirm them.

E! is now saying that, had anyone bothered to look closer, all the clues needed for confirmation were right there on their Twitter pages.

Nina, you see, is Derek Hough’s sister’s best friend. In fact, it was Julianne who came up with the idea of setting them up, insiders say.

Even so, some of the exchanges between Derek and Nina are more than platonic. If only we had noticed…

“Is Julianne Hough a celebrity matchmaker? It would seem so, given that her brother, Derek Hough, happens to be romancing her BFF, Nina Dobrev,” E! writes.

“Despite previous dating denials, sources confirm to E! News that the Dancing With the Stars pro and The Vampire Diaries actress are indeed an item. Though one insider says they didn't begin seeing each other until August, another source says their relationship is already ‘somewhat serious’,” the celebrity publication further says.

Over the weekend, Derek brought Julianne as his date for the Emmys 2013, where he won the award for Outstanding Choreography, his first Emmy ever.

Nina congratulated him on his win, saying she was very proud of him, and added that she was sorry she could not be with him and Julianne on his big night, because she had to work on location.

His reply is perhaps the most telling of the entire exchange, “Your the best babe.”

Since Derek is one of the best dancers on Dancing With the Stars, we’ll give him a pass for confusing “you’re” with “your.” It happens to the best of us, at times.
