Owners of a Nokia Symbian device can now enjoy up to 70 percent less data consumption on their devices when using the new Nimbuzz 3.0.1 application, Nimbuzz announced recently. According to the company, they managed to optimize the application with the latest releases, so that the data transmitted to the handset is compressed significantly, thus reducing the consumption.

“With the new update we have enabled a new way to compress the data packages using zlib encoding. We expect that on average you will consume 50% less data, and depending on how you use Nimbuzz, this could get save you an amazing 70% in data used,” the company notes in a recent blog post.

At the same time, they say that the new flavor of the mobile application should offer faster login speeds to all users.

But this is not all, since the new release comes with a series of other brand new features as well, so that the experience all users receive from the application is improved.

Here's what Nimbuzz notes on their blog: “Besides these amazing news we also have three additional features you should definitely check out: 1. Invisible mode – so you can appear invisible to your Nimbuzz contacts. 2. Allow chats only from friends – so you won’t be bothered by people that are not on your list. 3. Updated status icons – for Online, Away, Busy and Offline modes.”

In order to activate the new options, users would have to do some simple things. For example, to appear invisible with contacts, one would simply need to click the profile (at the top of the contact list), then on status, and chose Invisible from there (it would usually be set to online).

“To allow chats only from your Nimbuzz contacts go to: Options > Settings > Nimbuzz account > Allow chats from: Contacts only,” the said blog post explains.

The new version of the application is available for download from Softpedia too, via this link.
