The highly acclaimed Nimbuzz Messenger for Android devices has just received several new features and UI improvements meant to increase its popularity among users.

First of all, users will now be able to replace SMS with unlimited free chat. Group conversations are now available for users who wish to send text messages to their contacts in a single group.

Some UI changes have been included in the updates as well, such as the possibility to directly open chat screen from the roster contact. In the latest version of Nimbuzz, the chat list view is the default view.

Some connectivity bug fixes and performance improvements have been added as well, though we don’t have any details on these.

Nimbuzz Messenger 2.40 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 1.6 and up. Check it out here.
