Recently, Nimbuzz announced the release of Nimbuzz Ping, a SMS system that would provide users with free notifications on their handsets, and the company is adding a new feature into the mix, namely Push Notifications for Nokia smartphones via Nimbuzz Ping.

The feature it was meant to offer the owners of a Nokia device the possibility to receive notifications on their devices, just as other users do.

“Nokia users can finally enjoy a feature that up until now was reserved exclusively to iPhone users. Nimbuzz Ping let’s you receive free SMS notifications when Nimbuzz friends are trying to connect with you,” the company notes in a blog post.

“With Nimbuzz Ping you will appear online to your friends even if you have Nimbuzz turned off on your mobile phone,” the company continues.

The feature is currently set to arrive at wireless carrier Telkomsel in Indonesia, and should become available via various wireless carriers in India soon.

Those who would like to be notified when Nimbuzz Ping would become available via their carriers should head over to the company's website here to sign-up.

In addition to the said Push Notifications feature, the new update for Nimbuzz comes with a new addition, namely Ignore Users in Chat-Rooms, as well as with a redesigned main menu.

“In case you are getting tired of someone constantly sending you messages you can chose to ‘ignore’ that person and won’t be seeing their messages anymore for as long as you stay in the chat-room,” the company expalains.

“Once you leave the chat room, the ‘ignore’ is removed. Joining a new room also means you need to ignore that same user again … if you still want to of course.”

In order to ignore someone, users would have to join a chat-room, and then go to Options > Show participants > Select User > Options > Ignore. Going back to the list of participants, clicking on the ignored user and selecting “Undo ignore” would remove the 'ignore' option.

The main menu of the app was updated with an explanation under each section, the company notes. Thus, users should receive a better overview of contacts, messages, calls and Twitter, all from a single place.
